It is a lively municipality with over 33,000 inhabitants, consisting of the villages of Emst, Epe, Oene, and Vaassen, with hamlets such as Gortel, Wissel, Zuuk, Tongeren, Niersen, and Vemde. The North-East Veluwe is a recreation area with lots of natural beauty. Epe has thousands of hectares of nature. Beautiful equestrian, hiking, and cycling routes have been set out through the forests and over the heathlands. Our surroundings are also ideal for hiking, cycling, and enjoying the beautiful nature. A nice campsite near the amusement park 'de Wissel' is nearby. Epe also offers good relaxation options. In the vicinity, you will find Emst and Hierden (near Harderwijk), each with a wellness center, namely De Veluwse Bron and De Zwaluwhoeve, respectively. Epe is located in the triangle of Zwolle, Apeldoorn, and Harderwijk, which can be reached by car in about 20 minutes. Epe has a nice shopping center and restaurants. Emst has a recreational area called Kievietsveld with a water skiing center. Between Emst and Vaassen, you will find a candle factory and a trout pond. In the forests between Epe and Heerde, you will find the Heerderstrand swimming area. There are also some beaches near the Randmeren.

From the recreation park, it is 25 kilometers to Zwolle, 15 kilometers to Apeldoorn, and 20 kilometers to Harderwijk, Elburg, or the Veluwemeer (Veluwe Lake). In the summer months, many events are organized in Epe. A visit to the culinary village of Vierhouten, which is a bit further away, is highly recommended.

About the Veluwe
The Veluwe is a predominantly wooded region in the Dutch province of Gelderland and a former quarter of the Duchy of Gelre. The Veluwe covers an area of about 1000 km².
