You will be enjoying our entire private house along with the front and rear yard. There are two bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king bed and a crib with an attached bathroom. The secondary bedroom has two twin beds. The secondary bathroom is in the back of the house and has a shower. There is also a front sitting room with bay views, a 3 season sunroom with bay views, an open concept kitchen, dining and living area.
We have a fire pit available on the side with water views. And chairs stacked on the deck. Guests will need to provide their own wood and lighter for the pit. The local dollar general usual has these items in stock.
We have a car port that connects to our house for guest use. There is also room on the other side of the house for a boat if you are bringing one. As a bonus, some boats can be launched across the street. It is a shallow sand based launch and only suitable for certain boats. Contact me with questions. This is also a great place to launch your own kayaks. You may also rent kayaks from local companies and launch there as well. To access the launch area, guests can also walk or drive across highway 70 (2 lanes) to a sandy area where they can launch a boat or just relax and view the bay. Be sure to bring your own beach chairs for any of the beaches you may be visiting. This area is used by local fisherman and it is not suitable for swimming. We bring our 3 young children there frequently to play in the sand. This is not a beach, however, so please use at your own risk.
We also have an outdoor game room in our shed with ping pong, foosball, and corn hole. There is a small fan available for air circulation.
Guests can access the entire property including our shed which houses our game room. Guest have access to boat parking or trailer parking on property. We do not have room to turn around so you must be comfortable backing your boat out of the driveway. You may also park across the street. Contact me for details if you’re bringing a boat.
The shed is for guest use and should remain unlocked at all times. We do not provide a key to this space for guests so please don’t lock yourself out.
We love getting to know guests but respect your privacy and vacation time. We are available to talk via chat if you need us. We also have family and a maintenance team nearby that we can call on to help in an emergency.
We are located in a rural area on highway 70. While the area is rural, highway 70 is 2 lanes and is the only road that takes travelers to the outer banks ferry. The road is heavily travels. That said, we have four small children and we walk across the road on foot frequently. 15 minutes to Beaufort or Harkers Island. 30 minutes to Cedar Island Ferry to Ocracoke. Close to Core Sound, Cape lookout, Atlantic Beach, and so much more!
Please map search Williston and time to your destinations so you get an idea of where we are. Our house is for people who want to be off the beaten path, not in the heart of Beaufort.
Our home is at the end (or beginning depending on direction) of a curve ON highway 70. You should be comfortable backing up on to the road or turning around in the grass before entering the road. There are plenty of breaks in traffic and it’s not a difficult area, but we want you to know there is a curve. For reference, we feel comfortable crossing the curve on foot with our 4 kids who are under age 7. However, it’s not for everyone so please be aware of our location.
There are lots of great spots for fishing. Some of our favorites are:
The bridge just before our house. Locals fish there all the time. Most people go under the bridge.
Straits pier: 1650 Harkers Island Rd. This is about ten minutes away.
Oceanana Pier: 700 E Fort Macon Rd, Atlantic Beach, NC 28512
Please do not go behind the building across the street or use the docks there. The building is an active oyster farm. The other docks are private.
You are, however, welcome to use the sandy beach across the street as we own that land. We’ve never tried fishing from there but I’m sure you could. There’s definitely lots of fish in the bay.
There are also lots of fishing charters. We have not personally taken any of these, but we hear they are great!

Shark Island Eats Food truck (find them on FB)
Ferry to Cape Lookout by islandexpressferryservices. You can rent atvs and see the wild horses.
One of our kids favorites is to go to Moorehead and get Moore’s BBQ. We get takeout and have a picnic at the Crystal coast convention center. There is a big metal dinosaur there that my kids love.
GROCERIES: If you’re getting lots of groceries, I would stop in Morehead at the Walmart. Or Lowe’s food, Harris teeter, or lidl.

Our area is car dependent. Lots of people bike along highway 70 as well. Or you can bring your boat.
We are a non smoking, pet free property due to family allergies.
Our house runs on well water which can be very soft. If you aren’t used to the taste, you may want to grab some bottled water for drinking. We have a couple of starter bottles for your convenience. The well water is safe to drink if that is your preference.
The closest major grocery store is about 15 minutes away. If you’re planning on cooking, we recommend grabbing groceries before you arrive at our home. There is also a dollar general about five minutes away.
Due to our location on highway 70, if you are sensitive to road noise and will be staying in the twin bedroom, please be aware that you may hear the road noise.
Guests do NOT have access to any of the private docks across the street. Please do not go in our behind the building across the street. The building and docks are all private property.
Our neighbor has a small dog that may be outdoors on their property for brief periods. Our driveways are side by side but there is a privacy screen between the two houses.
Have you ever wanted to see how oysters are grown? We are across the street from Downeast Mariculture Supply, a fantastic stop on the NC Oyster trail. And, they offer tours April-October!
Welcome to our home! Your stay should be fun and relaxing, not filled with worrying about rules. We have outlined some guidelines that are likely what you would do in your own home anyway.
1. We are located near the beach and sand is part of life here. We ask that you try not to wear shoes in the house. This will protect our floors and keep your feet cleaner as the sand gets messy quickly.
2. We have some towels located in the laundry room you can use outside of the house, but please do not bring any of our bathroom towels or linens outside of our house.
3. Absolutely no smoking on property inside or out.
4. Please be respectful of the next door neighbors and observe 10pm quiet time.
5. Our home is near the water. When it rains or the weather gets cold, furry outdoor friends try to find warm places. Please do not leave food out and dispose of food waste in the trash can. If you fill up the indoor trash can, we have a can outside where you can place bagged trash.
6. If you are planning on an event, please contact us for additional fee schedule.
7. We appreciate it when guests do their dishes before leaving.
8. In the event that a pet has been in the house or there has been smoking of any kind inside, we will charge an additional cleaning fee that will be based on the level of cleaning needed.
