A wonderfully sociable open plan living/kitchen/dining space occupies the entire first floor with balconies for entertaining in the summer months and a wood burner for cosy winter nights. Four individually designed bedrooms (all with zip and link beds so you can choose super king or twin configuration), two bathrooms, a cloakroom and a utility room are located on the ground floor, and a lift makes Alde Valley Barn suitable for guests with mobility issues. This superb holiday home is just 15 minutes from picturesque Aldeburgh on the Suffolk coast.
SUMMARY
You know you’re somewhere special as you step into the wide entrance hall with hooks for your coats, a spacious coat cupboard, and a basket for footwear. Doors open to all four bedrooms, the bathroom, wet room, WC and utility room on the ground floor. A cleverly designed sliding door separates two bedrooms and the shower room for additional privacy. A wooden staircase rises to the first floor and a curtain screens the lift, specially installed for guests with mobility issues.
FIRST FLOOR
The entire first floor is the most amazing open plan living/kitchen/dining space with far reaching views of the Alde Valley captured through picture windows from every angle.
KITCHEN
In the area to the right of the stairs is a designer kitchen centred around a large central island with four bar stools, allowing the chef of the family to socialise with guests whilst cooking. A beautiful oval dining table and chairs sits by the sliding doors opening onto the deck for indoor/outdoor living in summer months.
The bespoke kitchen is equipped for entertaining with two ovens, a three zone Siemans induction hob, a full-height Bosch fridge, a three drawer freezer and a dishwasher. There is also a breakfast cupboard housing a Nespresso machine, toaster, microwave and other essentials to get your day off to a good start! Several full height cupboards provide ample storage for groceries.
LIVING AREA
Whatever the weather you’re sure to have happy memories of hours lounging on the comfortable furniture here, either with a roaring fire in the wood burner in winter or the doors to the balcony open to let a warm breeze in. Tucked discretely behind cherry wood cabinets is a 55" flat screen TV waiting for you to enjoy a movie night.

The super king size bed takes pride of place in this large bedroom with its deep blue palette and picture window framing the landscape (bed made as super king unless requested as twin). A circular table and chest of drawers sit by the bed and an attractive wardrobe has drawers and hanging space so you can unpack and settle in, with a couple of stools provided for your cases. SHOWER ROOM

Quirky bedside units sit on either side and there’s ample storage in a chest of drawers and bamboo hanging frame with space for shoes and hangers for dresses, plus an oriental style chair by the window inviting you to lose some time with a good book.

Manor Farm sits in a tranquil location on a hill surrounded by the rolling countryside of the Alde Valley. The barn has the best views with balconies so you can soak up the surroundings. There is a brick terrace in the walled garden with a dining table and chairs, and access to a lockable cart lodge for storing bikes. A second brick terrace contains relaxed seating to enjoy the afternoon and evening sun overlooking the fields.
Parking (max 4 cars) is on a gravel drive and there's a pathway sloping to the front door and external staircases at both ends of the building to the first floor. There is also an EV charger. If you can tear yourselves away from this idyllic spot you'll find plenty to do close by at the picturesque seaside town of Aldeburgh and magical village of Thorpeness; and the historic towns of Framlingham, Woodbridge and Saxmundham. Cyclists and walkers can enjoy a maze of footpaths and cycle routes through the stunning coast and countryside.
NOTES
The house has been designed for guests using a wheelchair with assisted access. There are sloping walkways from the parking area, a lift from the ground floor to the first floor, hard flooring throughout, and wide door frames, however there are thresholds into the bedrooms.
All beds are made in the Scandinavian fashion of a single duvet per person rather than a double.
The Barn is not suitable for children under the age of 4/5 due to the unprotected ponds and polished open staircase.
Dogs are not welcomed unfortunately as the grounds are not fenced and surrounded by fields owned by neighbouring farmers who may have livestock in them.
